Recently American Reader's Digest has announced its 2009 survey results about the Trusted Brands in Mainland China. ICBC won the highest honor -- Platinum Award for the bank category for the first time.
This survey, organized by Reader's Digest and Nielsen Media Research, takes the form of questionnaire and interview. Clients are asked to assign a score for each brand based on six core qualities namely trustworthiness, quality, value, innovative capability, social responsibility and how well each brand understands clients' needs. One Platinum Award winner and two to three Gold Award winners are selected according to the score each brand gains. To win a Platinum Award, the brand must have scored at least three times higher than the Gold Award winners. In the 2009 survey, only four banks were nominated for the Trusted Brands, among which ICBC won the only Platinum Award, whereas the other three obtained the Gold Award.
At the same time, ICBC also won the Gold Award for the category of credit card issuing bank. The official of ICBC expresses that in recent years, as ICBC has given excellent business performance and faithfully fulfilled its social duties, its brand reputation and status have been growing continuously, so have its brand value and impact on the market; thus it has been selected as 'the World's 500 Most Influential Band Brands' and 'the China's 500 Highest Valued Brands'. That ICBC won the "Reader's Digest Trusted Brand Platinum Award" for the bank category indicates again the brand's powerful market influence and high client recognition.
