Recently, the worldly renowned magazine Global Finance announced the results for its 2009 selection of best banks in emerging market countries.  ICBC won the title of "Best Bank of China" again, which is also the sixth time that ICBC has won this title.

According to resources, the selection of ICBC by Global Finance is based mainly on the following considerations.

--In the previous year, in face of the spreading financial crisis and sluggish capital market, ICBC has dedicated to fostering business innovation and improving management structure, thus achieved a new record of after-tax profit and become one of the most profitable banks around the globe.

--ICBC has sustained a sound development of business, with its main indexes No.1 among banks in China.  Its customer deposits and wealth management business ascended synchronously, and the increase in deposit amount and the circulation of bank financial products were ahead of other banks;  its scale of assets custody still set the pace in the banking industry, and its main projects in the corporate annuity business took up half of the market share; the issue volume and the annual consumption of its credit card business rose rapidly, further expanding its advantage as a market leader; its e-Banking products and relative services became more abundant, substantially increasing the percentage of its over-the-counter transactions.

--ICBC has achieved new breakthroughs in syntheticalization and internationalization development. It successfully accomplished purchasing Standard Bank's equity and the business transaction of Seng Heng Bank's equity; its Sydney branch, New York branch, ICBC (Middle East) and Doha branch have been established one after another; its private banking services were formally launched; its investment banking system in Hong Kong achieved integration and awarded the investment banking license by the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong.
