Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited released its Annual Report of Corporate Social Responsibility (2008) on March 25th, 2009 in compliance with the request of Shanghai Stock Exchange. It is reported that it is the first time ICBC worked out its CSR report according to the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines created by GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), and to engage an independent third-party for verification of the corporate social responsibility report.

The 2008 annual CSR report of ICBC is composed of three parts. The first part covers the addresses of the Chairman and the President of ICBC. The second part consists of five sections, describing ICBC's strategy and overview, summing up ICBC's contribution to economy, environment and society, and demonstrating social contribution rate of each share. The third part contains the third-party verification report and GRI Index.

Pertaining to research analysts, ICBC has shouldered its economic and social responsibilities in a continuous yet more proactive way in 2008, and kept up the stable and healthy momentum in business development when facing with the great challenges from both home and abroad economic drastic change, precipitated fierce natural disasters, and the strict requests form Olympic Games on financial services.
